The exhibit, documentary, website, and performance categories are judged at the Regional events. BY SELECTING EVENTS BELOW, YOU ARE INDICATING THAT YOU INTEND TO JUDGE AT THAT EVENT.
We need the most judges for first round at State History Day. Stakes are high at State History and we hope to have judges that have judged at at least a school History Day event, regional event, or at an event in another state. Experienced judges are welcome to let us know if they are interested and available to judge second round, but there are limited positions available for second round judging. We will contact folks again in April to let them know if they are needed as a final round judge. (PLEASE NOTE THAT STATE IS ON A SUNDAY THIS YEAR.)
Papers are evaluated off-site by teams of judges. Paper judges do not attend a Regional contest. Paper judges receive approximately ten papers via postal mail in early March, review projects, discuss with their judge partner over phone or email, and provide rankings and written comments for each project. Results and comments will be due on Tuesday, March 22. Paper judges will be confirmed in mid-February. Once confirmed, paper judges will get a link to an online training, which paper judges are encouraged to view.
Please indicate ALL of the categories you will be willing to judge. We will do our best to honor your preference, but please note that you may be asked to judge something else, depending on numbers.
Let us know which age division you would like to judge. Please note that some events are age specific (e.g. Metro Junior West will only have junior division students competing at it.)
Please include any other information you would like the History Day staff to know: Why are you interested in judging? Do you have any mobility issues? Are you affiliated with a school and have conflicts of interest with judging projects from that school?
