Noun:  An image, symbol, picture, or other representation usually as an object of religious devotion.

Verb:  To recognize; to determine.  (identifies, identifying, identified)

identity

Noun:  The difference or character that marks off an individual from the everyone else; selfhood; a name or persona by which one is known; knowledge of who one is. 

idol

Noun:  An image or representation of anything that is revered, or believed to convey spiritual power.

ignorance

Noun:  The condition of being uninformed or uneducated; lacking knowledge or information.

illiterate

Adjective:  Unable to read or write.

immediate

Adjective:  Happening quickly with no delay.

immerse

Verb: To involve deeply. (immerses, immersing, immersed)

immersion

Noun: Language school in which all subjects are taught in the second language.

immigrant

Noun:  A person who comes to a country to permanently settle from another country.

impact

Verb: To influence; to affect. (impacts, impacting, impacted)

Noun: Influence; effect.

imperative

Adjective:  Essential; necessary.

import

Verb: To bring (something) in from a foreign country, especially for sale or trade. (imports, importing, imported)

Noun:  Something that is not able to be done.

impression

Noun:  The overall effect of something on a person.

in spite of

Preposition:  Despite; irrespective of; notwithstanding.

in stride

Adverb:  Without disturbing one's course of activities; without emotional upset.

inauguration

Noun:  The act of inaugurating, or inducting into office with solemnity.

inborn

Adjective:   Innate; posessed at birth; herditary.

incentive

Noun:  Something that motivates, rouses, or encourages; a bonus or reward (often money).

independence

Noun:  Freedom from dependence and reliance on others.

independent

Adjective:  Free; not reliant on anyone or anything else.

indigenous

Adjective: Native to a land or region, especially before an intrusion.

individual

Noun:  A person considered alone, rather than as belonging to a group of people.

infection

Noun:  Illness caused by the spread of bacteria, viruses or other microoganisms within the body.

inferiority complex

Noun: A sense that one is of lower rank or quality than others.

infertility

Noun:  The inability to conceive children.

influence

Noun:  An action exerted by a person or thing with such power on another to cause change.

Adverb:  Casually; with little preparation or attention to detail.

ingrain

Verb:  To make something deeply part of something else, either literally or figuratively.  (ingrains, ingraining, ingrained)

Noun:  An established organisation, especially one dedicated to education, public service, culture or the care of the destitute, poor, etc.

Adjective:  Essential; central.

insurance

Noun:  A product designed to protect the financial well-being of an idividual or entity in case of an unexpected loss.  Common types are health, car, home and life insurance.

Noun: An organized opposition to an authority; a mutiny; a rebellion.

intact

Adjective:  Untouched, especially by anything that harms or defiles; uninjured; whole; undefiled; left complete or entire; not damaged.

integrate

Verb:  To blend in; to desegregate.  (integrates, integrating, integrated)

intend

Verb:  To plan; to mean to.  (intends, intending, intended)

intent

Noun:  Motive; purpose (for doing something).

intention

Noun:  Goal; purpose; plan; desire.

interact

Verb:  To engage or communicate with others.  (interacts, interacting, interacted)

interaction

Noun:  A conversation or exchange between people.

interest rate

Noun: The percentage charged to borrow an amount of money for some period of time.

interfere

Verb:  To meddle; to become involved when it is not appropriate.  (interferes, interfering, interfered)

interpersonally

Adverb:  In a manner relating to or involving relations between persons.

interpreter

Noun:  A person who listens to a speaker in one language and relates what is said to another person in a different language.
