About the IUM Grant


The Inquiry in the Upper Midwest (IUM) project is funded through the Library of Congress' Teaching with Primary Sources program. The IUM project will deliver primary-source based curriculum resources and professional development for teachers in Minnesota and Wisconsin, with a particular focus on inquiry, primary sources, and culturally relevant pedagogy.

The Minnesota Historical Society will be working with several partners throughout this grant:

During the 2018-19 school year, programming will include:  

  • regional workshops across Minnesota and Wisconsin throughout the school year
  • four webinars on Library of Congress resources for teachers  
  • the launch of instructional modules with videos showcasing culturally relevant pedagogy with primary sources 
  • opportunities for IUM alumni to bring the IUM team to present at their school or district
  • primary source sets for elementary grades
  • support for organizations wishing to apply for regional TPS grants
