"Why We Are at War"

President Woodrow Wilson wanted the United States to be neutral when the war in Europe first started. His 1916 presidential campaign slogan was "He kept us out of war." But several events, including the sinking of the Lusitania and the Zimmermann Telegram, pushed Wilson to ask Congress to declare war. This propaganda poster, from the Minnesota Commission of Public Safety, explains the reasons for war.
