Mr. F. A. Whittier

Dear Sir:- As to my acquaintance with Louis Dondino, will say I have known him for over thirty years, was a school mate of mine. I cannot say a word against his character excepting that one regrettable instance, namely the hanging of the Negros (sic).

I am sure if Louis had taken a second though he would have been free to-day. But the excitement of the event brought many into it that had no idea what the consequences would be. I was on the jury at the time of the trial of one of the participants, and voted for conviction. The evidence was against him, as I understand it, Louis drove the truck that took a bunch of the lynchers to the jail. Our police force is a great deal at fault

I am sure the whole thing could have been averted, had they used sound judgement, I feel confident if Louis is liberated he will make a model citizen.
Yours Truly
