Dear madam: In re: Pardon File

Referring to the above matter, the application
for pardon of Max Mason, I beg to say that I do not
know of anything that I can add to what I have already
said in regard to this defendant, except to repeat what
I stated in my letter of January 2, 1923, that I never felt
that the evidence in the case was any too strong, and I
am of the opinion that if the defendant had been a
white man he would not have been convicted.
I think the Pardon
Board ought to take this into
consideration in considering his application for clemency.
