Warden J. J. Sullivan,
Institution,
Dear Sir:
Regarding
Max Mason No. 6785 whose name appears on the Parole calander (sic) for the month
of September, I beg to report, that since received he has been under treatment
for Syphilis, responded to treatment and his blood Wasserman was negative in
October 1922 also in October 1923. In checking over our Syphilitics recently and
taking another Wasserman we find that Max Mason gave a positive reaction this
month and he is now under treatment again and is doing well. This man has a
large ventral hernia in the upper left abdominal quadrant, the result of a knife
wound in 1914. This necessitates that he wear a special appliance and we have
fitted him with two since he was received at this institution and he works every
day. Never used alcoholics. Smokes tobacco. Never had the advantage of an
education, although he can read and write. Mental condition
fair.
Yours respectfully,
G. A. Newman
Prison
Physician.
