GRAND RAPIDS, Minn. (June 17, 2025) – On June 21, the whole family is invited to the Forest History Center in Grand Rapids for a day of historical fun in the logging camp.

During Be a Lumberjack Day, guests can learn  first-hand how workers lived in Minnesota’s logging camps around the turn of the 20th century. Special games, activities, and costumed interpreters will provide visitors with an immersive experience that is both fun and educational.

Kids can try their hand at working the crosscut saw, also known as the “misery whip,” to saw wood, pull logs like a draft horse, take part in lumberjack tug-o-war, and more. Games include prune on a spoon races, musical stumps, and cookie tosses, among others.
