Tips for Swedish Genealogy
Death notices/obituaries
Death notices were seldom formalized in Swedish American newspapers and often interspersed with general news and written like them. They could range from three lines about someone perishing in an accident to half a page recounting the life of a well-known octogenarian who had passed away.
Headlines for death notices were usually ad hoc, though some headlines appeared regularly, including “Lifvet en börda” (life a burden) for suicides.
